part 347 dimensions of sight and sound
and of mind. Do do do do do do do do do do do.
How was your end-of-December-into-January time, meme? Did you make any New Year's resolutions? Or light a candle in your window in the hopes that Himaruya would update again instead of leaving us behind like an 19th century light house keeper's wife whose husband has gone off to sea? ... Did you?
Enjoy part 347!

Puffins
(Anonymous) 2014-01-22 03:39 am (UTC)(link)The puffins were circling around, waddling around on the rocks before heading out to feed again. That was why he'd taken her to the shore, those birds. They weren't anything special, really - you could hardly throw a rock without hitting one - but Liechtenstein didn't have them at her place. Well, of course, that came with being where she was, landlocked and everything.
Once, he'd blurted out something about how he'd hate to not be anywhere near the ocean. It was stupid, looking back on it. He hadn't been thinking. But she'd just smiled and said that she didn't mind; it was nice to be so close to her brother.
Out of the corner of his eye, he could see her with her camera, taking pictures. He didn't dare look at her; he'd probably blush. During this whole trip, she'd been indulging him, talking about how nice his place was - and it didn't sound like she was putting it on; it sounded like she really meant it.
"Oh, they're so cute!"
And you're nice, he thought. You're really, really nice. And cute, and -
"Uh," Iceland said. "So're you."
As soon as he realized that he'd actually said it, he did blush. Stupid, stupid, he should've kept his mouth shut-
Then she took his hand, and he felt as if he were going to faint. Or explode. Maybe both.
Embarrassing.
