part 351 lutes and flutes and brutes

Good day, meme! Or... good morrow? I hope part 351 shall be fun for you, or it would be a sorrow! I would think of more to rhyme, but it's late and there is no more sun! All that is left to say is--

Enjoy part 351!

What do you think of your 2014 entry?

Btw, have you seen this "Only Teardrops" parody? And what do you notice about the guy's name?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0qYNOHD6E8

[sorry for the dumb question, but is there a name for the English equivalent of the way he speaks?]

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
oh my god this is brilliant
kingkongeriget: (I have to go powder my nose)

[personal profile] kingkongeriget 2014-04-14 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Like it! 's catchy this time, don't ya think?

[and as for that parody....]

.....yeah, seen that one, too! Didn't notice nothin' funny 'bout his name, tho'. Reckon it means he's from up north?

[[This guy? It's supposed to sound like a rural accent, but there's no exact place I'm pulling it from! Just any old country accent!]]

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
He's a Swedish guy. And his name is DANiel NORberg. Get it?
kingkongeriget: (now tell me about the hash bars)

[personal profile] kingkongeriget 2014-04-14 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Huh? An' ya think they done it on purpose?

[it's cute, but...]

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
It's a cool coincidence, isn't it?

Ooh, I also gotta tell you, I really liked the Danish version of "Let It Go". Maria Lucia sounded wonderful.
kingkongeriget: (we should have fucking shotguns.)

[personal profile] kingkongeriget 2014-04-14 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
's pretty funny, sure!

[puffs up a little. hell yeah she did! she's Danish!]

Well, ya raise yer wheat on good soil, yer gonna get good bread!

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
And her rendition of "Part of Your World" was lovely too.

Do you ever record yourself singing? and share the recordings?
kingkongeriget: (one charming motherfucking pig)

[personal profile] kingkongeriget 2014-04-14 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Dunno 'bout recordin', but ya can bet I ain't so selfish I go keepin' all that talent ta m'self!

[drunk]

[over the phone or Skype]

[at 4 AM]

[true story, ask any of his friends or family]

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
You shoulda sung "Part of Your World" when you were a chick! fitting, right?

Have you ever tested out your range on a piano? Do you know your lowest and highest notes?
kingkongeriget: (do they speak English in What?)

[personal profile] kingkongeriget 2014-04-14 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe I'll git m'self turned again an' try it out!

Dunno 'bout m'notes, tho'! Never tried!

[it's not a wide range]

[and the notes he can sing, he does only passably]

[goes for his phone]

Wanna hear?

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
maybe you don't have to get turned. If you have a good falsetto, you can sing it just as you are.

Based on how you speak, you sound like you'd be a tenor. maybe an underdeveloped one. Finland would also be tenor. Norway and Iceland, baritones. Sweden, bass.

Which one seems most like you: http://www.singwise.com/images/vocalRangeFigure.png

Okay, let's hear it!
kingkongeriget: (we're not going to do anything stupid)

[personal profile] kingkongeriget 2014-04-14 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
[weeeelllllll. let's not speak of his higher registers. but, spoilers, he's a (limited) tenor, defs]

Ya got it!

[pulls up a video on his phone where he and an inebriated Sweden and Norway are attempting to sing a very old, very filthy song which each of them only remembers about a third of the words to, with Finland making lyrics suggestions from behind the camera]

[somewhere offscreen, Iceland is saying something that sounds like "Can't believe you guys" and "WHY ARE YOU RECORDING THIS?!"]

[anon's guesses on their range are pretty close!]

[...if you consider all this noise "singing"]

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
/trying not to laugh

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! That was the funniest thing I've ever heard!

/laughs some more

[that was a good ab workout]

...well, there goes my hope for a Nordic a cappella group.
kingkongeriget: (personality goes a long way)

[personal profile] kingkongeriget 2014-04-14 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
[you might see Norway stumbling before Finland drops the camera from laughing too hard-- then a BANG and lots of swearing]

Dunno! Reckon we got us a good gig goin' there! Long as th'audience's keepin' up on th'drinkin', too!
