356 vivacious vampires

Oh vampires! Oh meme! It's October, which is officially Halloween season. And... Himaruya is back? Kind of? Sort of? In a way. I wonder if we'll ever find out what happened on Halloween. Or if it will forever remain... a mystery. Much like the decision making process behind most of these titles.

Enjoy part 356!

Vampires! On the meme? Ridiculous. Especially not vampires with a penchant for chocolate (and blood, but, chocolate too). But there are certainly vampires in motion pictures!

What are some of your favorite vampire movies? Any vampire movies you'd consider to be "the essentials"?

The only ones I've seen actually are Night Watch & the sequal Day Watch. I enjoyed those. I really go in for goofy vampires a la Discworld though so I'm generally unsatisfied when they're actually taken seriously. I really want to see the New Zealand vampire mockumentary though. I forgot the name of it.

Some of my favorites:

My favorites (essentials? maybe, maybe not)

Interview with the Vampire
Let The Right One In
Let Me In
Dracula (the 1931 film)
30 Days of Night
Shadow of the Vampire
Lost Boys
Fright Night (I prefer the remake! /undead)

I also kind of enjoyed Only Lovers Left Alive, but I don't know if I'd ever watch it more than once.

Livide! Even though I watched it with dodgy subs, I loved it. It was so much better than I expected.

Then there is Let the Right One In/Let Me In, both of them good (Let Me In was so much better than I was expecting, I was very pleased.)

And of course Interview with the vampire though I've actually only seen this once... I should watch it again. I remember that, much like the novel, it's just plain fun.

Nosferatu is a classic, though these days it's -- Well, it's what you'd expect from a film that's almost a hundred years old. But still very creepy in parts, especially if you watch it alone in the dark while it's storming outside.

One of these days I will get through Nosferatu. I wish I could find a theater that plays it with live music, I think that's the best way to watch silent movies.

Ia about Let Me In! I was so surprised and happy with it, some parts (like the different dynamic between the vampire and the boy) were, to me, much more unsettling than the original.

Have you ever seen Shadow of the Vampire? It's a fictional version of the making of Nosferatu.

Dude. That would be a totally awesome way to watch it! ... The version I watched had some modern electronic (?) music inserted into it (????) and it just totally didn't suit the atmosphere, so I watched it with the sound off. Alas.

Ah, I haven't seen Shadow of the Vampire -- yet! It's been on my to-watch list for a while, just a matter of getting around to it. ^3^

It would! It's a shame most of the original score is lost... I would imagine a modern soundtrack just wouldn't fit the bill.

I think you'll like it! And ahh yes I know that feeling, my watch list is way too long.

My friend gave me Interview with a Vampire to watch... like... forever ago. And another one I've forgotten. I haven't watched either. I'm a bad friend.
And a bad vampire move watcher, too, I've only seen Van Helsing. I thought it was meh.

And I'm looking forward to Dracula: Untold.
