356 vivacious vampires

Oh vampires! Oh meme! It's October, which is officially Halloween season. And... Himaruya is back? Kind of? Sort of? In a way. I wonder if we'll ever find out what happened on Halloween. Or if it will forever remain... a mystery. Much like the decision making process behind most of these titles.

Enjoy part 356!

today's theme: a fear of clowns

Clowns. Scary clowns. Scary, scary clowns.

Are you afraid of them? Were you ever afraid of them?

Why are clowns so scary? And why is it commonplace to think that they will stop at nothing until they split you open and eat your entrails (which they may very well do)?

Not scary to me (never really found them so). But then again, I haven't seen/read It.

I wonder how many peoples fears of clowns can be traced back to Stephen King!

I don't mind clowns. I never really got the terror/dislike of them.

I think it has something to do with their unnatural appearance. Maybe it's the white makeup, or wild hair? Or the way they can all fit in that one car...

13 Creepy Clowns

This list is missing the clown that I think sparked my childhood fear: the fireman clown from The Brave Little Toaster...

Oh, and as for me: when I was little I was absolutely, 100% scared of clowns. I would cry. I would scream. I would cling so tightly to my parent's (or, any adult I knew within clinging distance) legs that they couldn't walk. When I was 5, I almost ruined a friend's birthday party because their parents hired a clown and I started bawling. I remember my dad having to apologize to a clown because I screamed "NOOOOOO!" at him when he offered me a balloon and ran away.

Today I'm not afraid of them (and like some people, think the over the top 'sooo scary' clown in American Horror Story isn't scary at all!) but sometimes I still feel a slight... vague impression of the fear that once gripped me whenever someone wearing white face paint and a bulbous nose came across my path.

Only afraid of clowns that look exactly like the one from Stephen King's It. Watched that as a child (my younger self had a lot of bad ideas), so the fear is a bit ingrained and hard to dispel, even with logic and rational explanations on the part of my brain.
