Oh vampires! Oh meme! It's October, which is officially Halloween season. And... Himaruya is back? Kind of? Sort of? In a way. I wonder if we'll ever find out what happened on Halloween. Or if it will forever remain... a mystery. Much like the decision making process behind most of these titles.

Halloween can be fun for all ages--and a good Halloween book doesn't have to be a terrifying novel that would leave even the bravest adults cowering under their covers. What are some Halloween appropriate books for kids that you liked as a kid? Or like even to this day?

THAT MILDRED HUBBLE. WHAT AN AWFUL WITCH.

While not as "Halloweeny" as other witch books, the Worst Witch series is appropriately fun and witchy and even heart warming. Plus, the first book spawned that hilariously bad TV movie with Tim Curry in it.

Haunted Castle by Leo Hartas is just amazing, it's like 3 am here so forgive if I'm not too coherent but, if you have an interest in children's book illustration you should consider buying a copy; you won't regret it. It's a big book and each image is a two-page spread on top of that, so very very large, which is great because you'll really want to pore over these pictures and study all the fun and clever little details. It's a bit like Where's Waldo but with all spooky settings (cemetery, dungeon, pirate ship, museum...) and instead of looking for the main characters you are following them through little sequential scenes all tucked into the same bigger picture as they look for their missing uncle. Here's an example of the illustration style - though really it does no justice at this size. Really, just spectacular art. I have a feeling I've probably repeated myself a lot here but whatever, 3 am, point is the book's good good pics good nightttt
