I really love Yuki Kajiura's music because most of it helps me relax even when the songs are on the sadder sounding side. I'm distracted from like a "sad" tone, usually, by say, studying. So it's just super pretty music to me when I'm focused on something like that.

I really enjoy her OSTs for Madoka, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Pandora Hearts, and Sword Art Online particularly, but I tend to listen to the music from the former two series more.

If I'm reading it can't have words, or at least can't have words I understand, or else I get muddled and distracted trying to process both at once. I used to listen to Puffy AmiYumi while reading in high school until I memorized the songs and it stopped working haha oops... these days I go for lyricless soundtracks like The Secret of Kells or Wall-E, or other foreign language music like Leb i Vino (bulgarian folk) or Wir sind Helden (german).

When I'm drawing I'll listen to just about anything. I like Guster, Caravan Palace, The Walkmen, Maggi Pierce & EJ, Hymn for Her, Ben Kweller, Pete Seeger, and Jukebox the Ghost.

If I have to stay awake I sadly have to put on something faster and louder like Flogging Molly, Studio Killers, or some of Janelle Monae's work.

Oh yeah and one time in college I had to sit painting little squares for several hours into the night, and I just played Gee by Girls Generation over and over and over h-hahaha... It was kind of mind-bending but it kept me from going insane from the tedium.

The song from Despicable Me 2 they've nominated is really fun even though if you listen the lyrics are basically If You're Happy And You Know It Clap Your Hands, haha

I'm just glad they've got Ellen as the host, her brand of humor isn't nearly so grating as Seth MacFarlane's...
