“How do you pray to your Gods, then? Show us!” Feliciano persisted. Rumors at home told him of bloody, barbaric rituals, but he found that the more Ludwig spoke of Germani culture, the less those stories held true. And Ludwig wasn’t as scary when he was talking. Usually.
But Gilbert spoke first.
“Heh, praying’s for your weak southern Gods, little Feli.”
“Don’t call us little, bastard. Unlike you, we have a civilized build!” Lovino cut in.
As Gilbert made indecent comments about their physique, Feliciano briefly wondered if he and Lovino would ever finish - or even start - a conversation without quarreling. Then he ignored them and turned back to Ludwig, his eyebrows raised.
“Ah, he’s right. You Romans build your temples and you pray to your Gods to invoke their help, as if that’s the only time they’ll pay attention. We believe our Gods are all-seeing and always around us. And if they see you deserve their help, they’ll grant it.”
Feliciano looked back at the dirt road before them as he thought of his parents. “That must be nice.”
