But I wish to sort of... vent.

My fellow fanfiction writers, do you find that when you are writing a chapter, the longer it goes on, the harder it is to keep writing? Because you want the story to get moving so badly, but you have to set up the frame work first?

I seem to be having that issue lately. If you've got any advice, it'd be well received, I assure you.

Yes. It can be frustrating to be stuck on setup when you want to get to the good stuff, so I find it helps to start sketching out the scenes you're most eager to write, especially while the ideas are hot, and then go back to the beginning and smooth them all together.

I think it also helps set your tone early in the story if you have very particular scenes in mind. Plus, once the ideas are down on paper, it can be easier to edit them to fit the story that's coming together without feeling busted up if you have to make changes to anything. If there's material you'd been dead set on putting in there for a while (and had put off to write chronologically), you might dig your heels in harder, not necessarily to the story's benefit.

What do the nations say/do just after they've had sex?

you know what, i'll be honest, the request does rub me the wrong way and i wouldn't read a fic on that premise or fill it

BUT

it does not bother me that it was requested. i also wouldn't insist on their changing their request. there are tons of similarly historically inaccurate fics out there - some of which i've much enjoyed - and tons of similarly potentially offensive fics out there - some of which, again, i've much enjoyed.

this particular issue happens to hit a little close to home for me and so, as i said, i personally would not be interested in reading.

but i still think it's perfectly alright for anon to have requested it. i don't think they went over the line in this case.

and although it's died down lately, i recall not long ago, late last year, a spate of obnoxious political correctness policing on the kink meme. i would like to discourage that type of thing on principle.

agree with the above. skip ahead, write what is exciting to you. then go back and figure out how to set it up. maybe in the meantime you will come up with a more interesting idea for introducing that framework anyway.
