Re: ITT: Ways that Hetalia nation personifications differ from how you'd have expected

Speaking of alternate depictions of the nations, and sleazy Italy in particular (at least, I think this dude's meant to be Italy):

I collect vintage postcards and I'm somewhat sad that I didn't get this one in time. Oh well!

And yeah, I would've expected more aggression from almost all the nations - but then again I'm used to satirical personifications of nations, not mostly cute ones as in Hetalia. Actually, America surprised me the most because I thought he'd be way more of a gun-toting swaggering jock type (I mean c'mon, this is even how Americans depict America). On the other end of it, I certainly didn't expect Switzerland's trigger-happy tendencies. And I would've thought Spain would be less mellow, more fiery-tempered. And England would wear a tophat and monocle at all times. And Russia would be like… almost the opposite of Hetalia Russia, honestly, more like someone who frowns all the time and is outwardly aggressive and emotional but has a hidden softer side.

ETA: Also, I don't think anyone expected England's eyebrows. We were all woefully unprepared.
