This is a reminder that sign ups are still open for the Meme Murder Mystery, kicking off next part!

What's the murder mystery? It's a fun game of death, murder and suspense that's loosely based off of the forum game Mafia and tailored for a role playing environment.

The goal is to either be the best killer that you can, or survive to off the killers before they kill you and all of your friends.

You can read more about the game here, and of course there are several posts on this journal giving some in-depth explanations. You can even look at the roles we have available this game. They've been revamped from the last one to be easier to use, so we hope everyone lives up to their full potential.

Game updates will be posted twice per day, once per live hour and once per dead hour, so it doesn't matter what time zone you're in. Come on and have some fun!

i need some movies to watch with my parents, do you have any suggestions?

unfortunately there are some restrictions, which is why i'm having trouble coming up with stuff myself

-they want to watch recent(ish) movies
-they don't want to watch anything animated or for kids
-not too many long sex scenes please, just cos it's awkward to watch those with parents
-prefer no strongly nationalistic or military-related stuff (regardless which country)
-they like good special effects
-they like... oscar-y movies, but as this is a fun hangout/cooking/family day i'd rather avoid very heavy issues (was considering '12 years a slave' but i think maybe better another time)
-they don't get wes anderson at all :(

so far, 'gravity', 'contagion' and 'august: osage county' were a hit, 'elysium' was a flop (terrible movie overall i might add, which is a pity because i liked the concept but seriously the sloppiest writing job, plotholes and cliches everywhere), apparently nobody but me wants to see the lego movie.

i am eyeing 'world war z' but that's about it, 'nebraska' sounds good too but again i wonder if it's too much of a downer

i'm going to bed shortly but thanks beforehand if you have any ideas to drop here.
