We've been here over a year now! I can hardly believe it! Dreamwidth's been pretty good, I'd say, with almost no downtime to speak of and all that! Anyway... how is your spring going? I am dying for long, plotty german bro fic where Prussia and Germany get caught up in some conspiracy/espionage type of thing (domestic or international or global, I don’t care), with lots of fighting and action and explosions. I’d write it myself, but sadly I haven’t gotten any farther on plot than that.

But genes only are a pretty bad source when it comes to Hetalia:

Norway is the most related to Denmark and the Netherlands, Sweden is the most related to... Denmark and Poland(!), Northern Germany is the most related to Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Poland etc.

Norway and Denmark call each other "brother" all the time, so...

Oh I know, but that's the thing about Hetalia; a lot of what nations do is metaphorical, and I think there's a strong case that this was one of those times. Lets say they are brothers genetically; How did two separate quasi-immortal beings that came about in different times that span hundreds of years end up genetically similar enough to constitute "brothers" on a DNA test? And why does that not apply to Denmark+Sweden as well?

As other anon said Himaruya is very inconsistant, and personally I think if he means that sibling nations are literally related he has a lot of 'splaining to do.

Slightly more specifically I'd love to use the historical alts more often (especially now that duchy will have more/new icons soon eeeee) but the chance doesn't come up very often. Also insert usual whining about lack of Nyotalia castmates here etc etc.

Well, I doubt others want to play anything pairing related with either Lux or Bavaria.
But hey, at least there are still anons around who seemingly like a thread once in a while,
so I'm not complaining. (= 7 =)b

Some family/friends relationshippy threads would be nice to do again as well,
but I don't want to force anything, especially when almost everyone is busy with offline things currently.

And I know I still rarely use Bavaria anymore, I really have gotten too rusty with that account.

I like to think of it as the DNA of their people being closely related in a genetic population sense and that plus shared culture and language makes them as close related for countries and thus "brothers", but it doesn't literally mean they share 50% of each others DNA anymore than the average Icelander and the average Norwegian do.

But man if they literally are then I want to see the receipts on how Russia is Belarus&Ukrain's brother since Russia has so many freaking haplogroup and genetic markers because of all it's unique ethnic groups. He'd be such a genetic Mary-Sue, literally everyone's brother or cousin.

I HAVEN'T THOUGHT ABOUT THIS IN YEARS ANON I HAVE NO DETAILS FOR YOU.

I kind of developed the hc when I picked up Bismark's biography on a whim (sidenote: the entire first chapter of Bismark's biography is about Old Fritz, lest we forget who the most important Prussian military leader of all time was). I mean I've always had the hc that Julchen would sleep with her soldiers on occasion, especially when she was a cocky, power hungry, I do what I want Kingdom ~~and Fritz did it too~~ so sleeping with the head military adviser isn't really that much of stretch. Remember Bismark wasn't technically her boss, just a very high ranking and respected human, she wouldn't see it much differently than sleeping with a random human, or so she would tell herself anyway. And when Bismark's biography talks about his early life in politics there are like long sections on end about how even though he loved his wife he always wanted someone smarter and more bookish, and with Julchen being a canon bookworm it just kind of sealed the deal in my mind. After all, nothing gets Prussia all hot and horny like listening to her partner talk about making her strong, how they're going to crush Austria under their boots, and make her acknowledge Prussia (well, Germany in this case) as her superior. ~~And to be fair Fritz was better at this too, but he was gay, so let's just say Julchen had to wait a hundred years to ride one hell of a hater boner for Austria.~~ Plus after that he got to use crushing France as even more pillow talk, Bismark knew his nation well and goddamn does she like when her people know her.

BUT Bismark was also a little...mentally unstable. Smart as hell, but kind of crazy. He threatened suicide when Kaiser Wilhelm didn't give him what he wanted more than once. That, and the whole joining into the German Empire slowly ending Prussia's autonomy thing, probably left her very conflicted about him both as a mentor and as a partner. So regret fuck, but she still liked him a lot. She's got a thing for crazy old bastards!
