Shedding exoskeletons? Do you mean cicadas? I love those things, and their wings.

But the junebugs I'm thinking of are the plainest things I can imagine and I don't think they shed. I think they're only good for getting eaten and crunching really loudly when pets eat them or they get stepped on.
