oh god and it's even better when the 'problem' is something utterly ridiculous that seems ooc for the character to get upset about considering their canon personality - ridiculous for most anyone to get upset about - and it's just like... who the hell is this? why do they need a fucking hour long therapy session followed by massage and complimentary brownies with hazelnut icing on top because somebody made an offhanded joke about their nickname or mentioned a dog that died five years ago or i dunno bumped into them causing them to stub one of their precious porcelain toes? SERIOUSLY??

i don't think this is even projection anymore, it's an attempt to garner sympathy for character x by giving them this exaggerated sensitivity to everything but honestly it does the reverse and i generally want to punt the precious baby directly into the nearest ocean.
