For two different authors.

One, I thought was too easily "pushed" by other people. In the way that commenters often get pushy and even a bit passive aggressively rude/overentitled... you know how that atmosphere develops. And this author always kept apologizing and catering to what the readers wanted when an apology or changing the story you want to write isn't really necessary in these cases and I feel like the result has been much more wishy-washy writing and characterization than they started out with, and really, really mushy tropes and hugbox themes versus the more interesting plots they used to come up with. It's like fruit juice that got diluted then mixed with kool-aid to satisfy whiny kids.

The other case, it was a combination of audience influence and the author being drawn further and further into out-there headcanons that started to contradict canon characterization to the point where the two characters they typically write about are hard to recognize sometimes. Essentially they've created OCs. And I feel like they're projecting really hard onto one of the characters. The writing itself is still good and sometimes interesting, but I have a hard time getting into it any more because it seems like original fiction yet simultaneously can't quite stand on its own, and if judging it as fanfiction it fails to connect at all.
