I knowingly "stole" about 2.50 from a supermarket chain yesterday when a cashier made a mistake during the checkout process and I didn't correct him despite noticing. I usually would but right now I just happen to be poor as fuck. 2.50 is like three days' worth of food expenses for me. So when the unexpected money appeared, it felt like some gift from heaven in that moment.
I felt really guilty for the rest of the day since I feared it may get my cashier into trouble somehow. But I'm confident it's a mistake that has an almost 0% chance of getting noticed. Still, I feel bad, and I'm going to put 2.50 into a donation box once I have money to spend again.
