I've been kind of unofficially challenging myself not to look things up since I feel like I kinda overused the walkthrough books as a kid, but it has meant I just don't know what's going on or when certain pokemon evolve half the time :'D Glad I don't have to worry as much about the plot nonsense, whew

iirc they're all in the 40s, with one or two lowlevel guys being trained up. I seem to remember once bringing an absolute baby of a pokemon with me to the elite four (or some similar Big Deal Plot Thing) and still doing the "send the lolwlevel out first, then swap out so it gets exp" trick with it
