Nightmare on Elm Street 342: Freddy Applies for a Passport. I think it'll be a hit! Oh, meme. It's still October. The awesome-ist month of the year! For about a week and a half more, anyway. I have been watching horror movies and contemplating putting up fake cobwebs--but I think my cat might eat them. Do you think, meme--do you dare to hope--we might get some Halloween doodles from Himaruya this year?

Today's Theme: Vampires in Film

Ah, vampires. A staple of horror, modern and old. It's certainly no surprise that they've figured heavily into the minds and imaginations of filmmakers and filmgoers alike!

What are some of your favorite "vampire" movies? Do you have any particular favorite film vampires? Least favorites?

Aesthetically, I like both the vampires and werewolves in Van Helsing. I'm kinda interested in watching old films like Nosferatu, but older movies tend to bore me so I'm afraid I won't like them...

Favorite vampire would have to be ~~Count Duckula~~ Grandpa from The Munsters.

Least favorite... other than your typical Twilight... I thought the original Dark Shadows was boring as heck.

I have a terrible time watching silent films, so I feel your pain! I've heard that the 1979 remake of Nosferatu was excellent, though obviously it's not a substitute for the original.

I haven't seen the original Dark Shadows! I thought the remake/film was all right but needed to be shaved for time....

I may check out the remake then! One day I shall watch a silent film... One day...

I love Grandpa. I wanted him to be my grandpa.

The film was okay, but then again it was more of a comedy and the original was soap opera drama-y. I did like that the one girl was a surprise!werewolf and they kinda-sorta dropped hints before the reveal.

I thought (except for the length) it was a good popcorn flick! Though I wish they had tried to develop the romance more, it felt super forced.

Give them another hour and they would've! But I agree, it was almost like they had all these things they wanted to stuff into the movie and couldn't bear to discard any of them.

I don't like horror films much but I do really enjoy vampires. Still, the only vampire movies I've seen are night watch and day watch, if those count, and I really enjoyed them

The only vampire movie I really cared for was Interview with the Vampire. Mainly because they were hot. And so very gay.

The book is much better but I love both!

See, I didn't like the book because Louis is so much whinier

That was part of the fun! He was such an obviously unreliable narrator too, it added a layer of interest!
