Part 11 comes after Part 10

Part 10 is over! Part 11 is here. If you haven't checked the challenge entry, the challenge has been extended until Part 11 maxes. Hopefully that is enough time for people who are busy with finals and such to find time to enter, if they'd like to!

Should I mention that the number 11 scares me? I really don't like that number. Like how Natalie Portman hated the number 5 (or 6?) in Where the Heart Is. But a higher number. Well, anyway.

It's not that I don't like subverted relationships. It just seemed that those requests in particular had less of a subversion vibe, and more of an "let's completely ignore the facets of the relationship I don't like" undertone. I've read good fics where Russia is clearly on his happy-pills or something, and it turned out glorious. They key is to make it believable, really. And it's hard to make something believable by simply ignoring an important aspect of character.

But I completely subscribe to the idea that relationships can change, and I'd be interested in reading a fluffier take on the pairing in a less conflicted time. It was less the request itself and more of the attitude I perceived behind it, I think.

I guess I can also understand the mentality behind wanting a more fluffy take on a pairing at the expense of their background (AU, maybe?) if the requester just sort of... wants their pairing in a vacuum (especially in the case of Russia/Lithuania where most of the other stuff is just rape and abuse).

I mean, it isn't my cup of tea at all because I'm a complete loser for complex messed-up ship dynamics that take ages to resolve, but I can see why a shipper'd want an easy fix once in a while? Kink meme is also for guilty pleasures, after all.

Haha, yeah, that I can understand too, definitely. I guess the good thing about it all is that the requester isn't (usually) the one filling the request and we can hope the hypothetical author'll have enough discretion to give the pairing the 3-D treatment that'll give it more grounding in reality.
