part 333 wild ponies running free across the plain

Hi meme! How was your week? Mine was interesting. I just made pad thai noodles (this wasn't the interesting part) but the noodles came out too rubbery/chewy and I am disappointed. I'm also on an Izumi Yukimura kick today! Are you on any particular music kicks? (Also, man I wish you could embed videos on Dreamwidth! A gal can dream, I guess.)

Enjoy part 333!

yeah, i feel like she would've grown up being self-sufficient because aside from having basic needs taken care of by maids and such, she would've been left to her own devices. awww little liech playing by herself, poor lamb. he would've made the effort with etiquette and maybe music but otherwise he was a hands-off 'parent' (not unlike upper class victorian dads, really). but she was such a good kid, he would always think fondly of her when he remembered she existed.

to be honest, he's not the best model for independence so he can't fault her at all. she never really got the chance, but she's done very well even so. he'll sing her praises if asked, as compared to the criticism he'd heap on his other 'kids'.

EXACTLY

And none of it's meant to be insulting and he says all of it in a tone of amused almost fond remembrance. Even when he brings up how quick Austria came the first time he got to be on top and how he had to sleep on the couch the next week for making fun of his husband's stamina

Ah, what happy days

It wasn't that strange.... [ if only the anon also told him if he had to act in character or not, too. ]

...Er--!! [ and give him a second as he tries to think of what would keep Italy busy. ]

There was my birthday, back in March, and... siestas, and work --

[ Italy does work sometimes...! Really, Germany! -- ]

...and I visited my brother, and Japan!...

Hahahaha I FEEL LIKE I might disappoint but

I always think the Gil isn't really the best person to own pets?

Like from the beginning, his relationship from animals has been "don't get attached" and he was raised to view them as either 1. food or 2. workers or 3. Cute things to pet and then move on with your day. But otherwise he doesn't really have an affinity with animals like Germany has always had. I think instead, he's probably terrible and his attention span only lasts for how long that animal is entertaining and cute. He's content to pet a stray cat and leave it to its life.

In my hc on a bad day he can get annoyed by all the pets Germany has. But YEAH Gilbird? I think since childhood birds have been attracted to Prussia, kinda like how Greece has all those damn cats. Gilbert always had a bird following him. When he was younger crows would probably follow him because y'know teutonic knights, bringer of death, bringer of a human meal. But he never noticed?? Just all background noise.

He's a million miles a minute, a bird isn't relevant to what's going on, so not worthy of his attention. I don't think Gilbird is a single bird that he keeps. If it is, Gilbert can't tell. But after his brother pointed out the bird to him, he felt really flattered that this living fluffy thing decided to pick him as a friend.

I think at first he would've kept the bird as like "TOO COOL PHOTO ACCESSORY!!" to melt hearts, but the more he spent time with the bird, the more it touched the deepest loneliness in his stupid little heart, and he started to give it a rare special attention that he's never really given anything besides himself and his little brother.

Gilbird he would tell you is his #1 friend, and not his pet! He doesn't really keep him, it's a "come and go" kinda thing! I guess for activities, I think he'd be dead set on trying to teach the bird to whistle certain old timey marching songs, but besides that it's a lot of dress up games, photo taking, and laying around rubbing his feathery belly.

Yes, that is exactly what I had in mind! Him being all incensed but still caring enough to try and change Romano's mind, and being all young and fiercely idealistic, I really love that type of character. And Romano is all "cool cynical smooth player" on the surface but on the inside he's a teenage ball of insecurity yelling "why doesn't he like me ;_;" and doesn't realize that if Greece didn't like him, they wouldn't be talking at all.

Definitely! I do think she can be just the slightest bit high-maintenance sometimes though and it's because she had those servants around as a kid. She's mostly grown out of it in modern-day because she's had to do chores by herself, but it's not entirely gone.

She can't really bring herself to be critical of him--she's forgiving by nature and she's also used to looking up to him in general, so she automatically assumes he's great all around. It's not quite to the point of putting him on a pedestal, but she tends to write off his flaws as eccentricities rather than anything worse.

And AWW I'm just imagining him bragging about her and she never knows and ;3;

[personal profile] fruited_plain 2013-06-25 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Long rifles will always have a special place in her heart despite being horribly outdated. There was nothing quite like the distance people would give her back in the day if they saw a "little lady" carrying one of them around, and they provided lots of food. You just can't casually carry big guns like that around these days. Not that she needs to anymore either.

Hahaha no. Though I do think she probably lost it a little "late" in nation standards. Puritanical views and old-fashioned notions on women and all that.

Shopping headcanon? (what does he like to shop for, does he take people with him, is he a haggler, etc.)

Alternately how does he feel about travel?

that's another thing she's picked up from his lifestyle, hehe = w =;

b-bawwww, like an eccentric old uncle everybody else can't stand. he won't praise her too much to her face, it's embarrassing for all involved. but he wouldn't realise she thinks so highly of him, either ; w ;

No you didn't disappoint at all, I really like this headcanon! Especially the birds always following him but that he only noticed Gilbird once Germany pointed him out. That'd be just like him.

He's not as much of an otaku as Prussia but he's secretly real into the exclusively-female moe/waifu franchises, like Touhou and K-On and Strike Witches, stuff like that. When someone sees his internet history or merchandise collection, he blames it on Prussia.
