I have mixed feelings on humiliation. It's definitely not my favorite kink but when it's consensual/dubcon (in the sense they get off on it and there's not noncon going on), I enjoy it a lot more.

- England, because he shows sides of the UK beyond the posh tophat and monocle. I love his rich personality, he can be almost anything depending on the circumstances. And y'know what? I love me some tsundere. I love his jerkass traits but I can love his sympathetic and vulnerable side too.

On England anyway. The first time I saw Ukraine's boobs I laughed like a drain because BREAD BASKET but I don't really have strong feelings on her otherwise.

I love just about any kind of humiliation, except anything involve vomit, garbage, blood or shit. (Which goes for any kinks, I like, really.) I like humiliation because it is honestly so versatile. Someone can be humiliated because they're tied up and tickled and it makes them squeal like a little girl. Someone can be humiliated because they're forced to parade around naked in front of other people. Someone can be humiliated because they performed badly in bed. Etc etc etc.

But there are different degrees of it and I don't like all the degrees? It's a very complicated kink for me.

Like.

Someone humiliated by an enemy (like, antagonist-style enemy) doesn't do much for me, most of the time. But someone humiliated by someone they don't like--like, idk, the boyfriend of their friend that is a douche--does. Because there's still a connection there that isn't a total role reversal--it's not MUA HA HA HA I HAVE CAPTURED YOU, NOW I HUMILIATE YOU, but... yeah.

BUT THEN... sometimes that does work for me?? Like usually some sort of scenario where it's someone "high" (royalty, dignitary, whatever) who is humiliated after some kind of conquering. Like a princess being forced naked into public stocks, or being forced to be a servant of the usurping king, or something like that.

-england because he is this great combination of lame+cool = wtf is this but i like it and i would hit it. i would also hit it in the more literal way because other nice thing about england is that there is a lot of kinky fic with him and he seems suited to it. he's flexible, i like him dominant or submissive, super kinky and hardcore or vanilla and kind of goofy.

-eh, dislike is such a strong word when it's hetalia. i mean, i could find characters to dislike in other series, but with hetalia all i can give ya is that i forget some characters' existence. egypt who? macau? cuba? and a lot of the girls do blur together for me, belgium seychelles and taiwan literally feel like the same character: cheerful, cute, nice, energetic. also not interested in nyotalia or nekotalia. i like the mochitalia though because it is just far enough over crack mountain to get into awesomely uncanny valley.

It's very hit-or-miss for me. I like it as long as the character being humiliated is enjoying it on some level. Even if it's noncon, I need the target to be getting something out of it.

I don't like it when it seems to be intended to do real damage to the target, or strikes me as something that would do real damage, especially if the one doing the humiliating is a romantic partner. As soon as someone starts hurting their partner on purpose and for real, I get squicked. And I really get squicked if the narrative validates the one doing the humilating.

Tl;dr, it's one of those things that's very subjective for me. A lot depends on what else is going on in the story, and how the characters are reacting to that. When it seems to be more about hurting or humiliating someone than it is about how they are experiencing what's going on, I hit the back button. But there are also times when it really hits my kinks, too.

For me, it depends a lot on how the narrative handles things, and whether or not the target is actually seriously damaged by it, how damaged they are, and, hell, tons of factors.

I love this kink applied to Germany. Because he's such a proud character and concerned about his image. In certain areas, he's very convinced of his abilities too, so to see him humiliated and unable to do something about it is interesting to see.

And he's so terrible with feelings in general, yet strangely earnest, so he wouldn't even be able to act more aloof than he feels, or to try and deny he's humiliated, which only makes him feel more embarrassed. That's why I like humiliation through dirty talk or in general when he's being talked down to as well. Not like "oh you filthy slut" or anything, but more coyly baiting things that hint at the power imbalance like "What's wrong Germany, hmm? Do you have something you want to say?"

I just love the idea of someone being able to get a rise out of Germany with words, while Germany feels ashamed that he's so easy to read and easily manipulated in that way. Just, hnnng.

it's probably my main squick - and one of very few kinks where even if it's enthusiastically consented to and mutually enjoyed, i still can't get anything cute or charming out of it. i haven't yet found anything where it works for me - the closest would be something where a spectator has a temporary mistaken impression that it's occuring but it's really not.

To add to that, I guess I like this kink with Germany because in a way, he's giving so much power over himself to another person, and trusts them not to abuse said power. He'd be very humiliated in a DNW way if his partner ever legitimately mocked him for it, or shared his kink with others ~~unless he consents to that~~.

Germany's always in control of himself and always tries to control the situation, from the general picture to the littlest details, so to have someone like that give up any and all control he has, leaving him emotionally powerless in someone else's hands, and for them to do with him as they please, and for Germany to know and feel that is one of my favorite kinks.
