part 333 wild ponies running free across the plain

Hi meme! How was your week? Mine was interesting. I just made pad thai noodles (this wasn't the interesting part) but the noodles came out too rubbery/chewy and I am disappointed. I'm also on an Izumi Yukimura kick today! Are you on any particular music kicks? (Also, man I wish you could embed videos on Dreamwidth! A gal can dream, I guess.)

Enjoy part 333!

Share, and tell us how you think that event should have gone down.

Cleaning of the Storage

self-explanatory

Oh sheesh, amen. The way the Revolutionary War was portrayed rang so false for me.

I was alright with most of it, but the ending of the battle when England was on his knees and that scene with England and Chibimerica just bugged me a lot

The 'poor widdle Engwand' feel of it all just really annoyed me. What annoys me more is when it's used as angst fodder for USUK. What annoys me most is when some USUK fics make it seem like America is sorry about it in modern day. Nope. Noperoo. I like USUK, but that sort of thing just really burns my britches.

Honestly I'm okay with cleaning out the storage because to me it felt like seeing England the person as well as England the nation BUT

100% agree on no to making America sorry about it. Why would he? It was necessary.

+infinity to this. I really dislike the fanon that reduces the Revolution to America just being a selfish brat out to hurt England just because he could.

THE DRAMA

THE TEARS

TOO MUCH DRAMA

TOO MUCH TEARS

I wanted to see them fighting it out to the bitter end, not England giving up like that

Anon, England didn't really give up

he just decided to be passive aggressive and fuck with America in other ways

like by creating The Beatles

A more accurate and kind of funny portrayal would be England ending the war like, "You know what? This isn't worth the effort for a brat like you. I'm too busy dealing with damn France anyways. See if you make it without me!"

And then when America does make it without him indeed, England gets huffy for a little while.

Too much RAIN.

Every time it RAINS they have a FLASHBACK.

I tried to avoid it in my fic BUT YOU CAN'T. YOU REFERENCE IT BY NOT REFERENCING IT.

"It wasn't raining. Nope! Not at all!"

The time France and Monaco fought over income taxes.

Himalaya doesn't say what was actually going on and kinda makes it look like France was victimized by her unwillingness to cooperate by imposing an income tax on foreign companies, and that he, the super responsible big brother, just took a step back for a few days to let Monaco cool off and think about things, and during that time she realized she couldn't function in the slightest without him.

The problem is that that wasn't what happened at all; a ton of pressure was being placed on Monaco in the form of heavily-guarded borders and the threat of France actually sending in troops, as well as shutting off electricity and water to the principality if Monaco didn't concede.
