This is a very rambling post today, I'm sorry, I'm in a tired rush. A tired tired summer rush. Which, in my professional opinion, is the most annoying kind of rush. I prefer a crisp winter rush! But oh well.

[ he's making his way carefully through the jungle, when he hears noises that sound like gunshots and also screams, and tenses up. Should he investigate or run...? finally deciding, he takes out his weapon and holds it as if he's armed, even if he can't use it completely effectively like this. At least it might stop someone from attacking him right away. ]

[ cautiously makes his way forward for a long while.... until he comes across? -- ]

A-Ah, Monaco-san, look out--!

[ ( TENTACLE SHEEP used LUNGE! ) > action: ( JAPAN used JUMP KICK! ) ]

[ Though she wasn't hit, she promptly trips back into her little bush with a yelp as though the sheep had, in fact, landed on her. It's a miracle she doesn't actually fire her gun again while doing so. ]

[ ...because he can't attack right away again after an attack like he just used; he's an old man, he has to land properly first and then position himself again! And take aim! ]

[ ...the sheep's tentacles seems to still be flailing... those tentacles don't look good, but Japan's positioned his weapon somewhat well enough now, staying close to the ground to avoid the tentacles -- ]

[ action: ( JAPAN used SHOOT! ) ]

You're finished--!! [ he's pretty sure he's aimed perfectly... ]

[ She's a bit dazed and disoriented from her fall, but she somehow manages to shuffle back out of the bush, though she's dropped her gun again. Absolutely terrified, she scrambles to her feet, carelessly shrieking and running a few meters in a random direction until she's sure she's out of reach of those tentacles. ]

[ She'll wait until that monster's dead before deciding what she should do about Japan and his uncharacteristically large gun. ]

/lets out a screaming bleat and thrashes in agony, tearing everything it touches

[ it's over... he'll heave a sigh of relief, closing his eyes for a single moment to rest, before opening them again and moving to carefully stand back up and study the fallen sheep intently -- he also picks his M2 Browning back up. The tentacle sheep seems to be dead... (he's almost feeling sorry for it... he wasn't expecting to have to attack something like that. But then, it is a strange tentacle sheep.) ]

[ Having confirmed it's dead, he'll turn to look and see if he can spot Monaco... ]

[ calling out: ] Monaco-san? Are you all right...? Ah, I won't shoot if you do not --

[ Don't mind her, she's just slowly coming down from the adrenaline high that kept her from actually bursting into tears this whole time. ]

Japon! What happened?! What was that?!

[ Even if she wanted to shoot him now, she's too scared and confused to think about aiming properly. And then there's also the fact that she's lost her gun... ]

[ she doesn't seem like she'll intentionally harm him based on her reaction so far, so--? ]

I am uncertain myself, but it seems to be a -- mutated sheep, with tentacles...?

But it appears dead now...!

[ She's too busy sniffling and shaking and curling in on herself and trying to keep her glasses from fogging up to shoot anybody right now. ]

I've never seen anything like that! Do you think there could be more out there?

[ Hazards a peek around the tree at the corpse, and yes, it's just as terrifying as she thought it was, even dead. ]

[ oh, he sees her now -- doesn't drop his gun, but he does give a nod in greeting. Also, he hardly seems fazed by the fallen sheep now. ]

It might be possible, so I would seek shelter as quickly as possible...

[ takes in her appearance, from what he can see. She's been crying...? He can't help but feel bad for her, even if they don't always see eye to eye on certain issues. ]

[ he then gives a small sigh. ]

I was planning to head to the shrine for shelter; in zone C4. It's surrounded by forest, lakes, and mountains, so it'd be good for defense... Ah, and I believe there is also a Starbucks at zone C6 -- one could temporarily rest there, and possibly obtain some food and drinks before heading to the shrine nearby...

...If you would like to come along as an ally, it is fine, as well. Though I cannot guarantee your safety should we separate or be attacked.

[ plus, she could use the restroom at the Starbucks and... wash off her face (and glasses). ]

[ He's talking to her and telling her all these specifics, but she's still a bit too shaken up right now to understand everything. She nods, though, almost too enthusiastically for her current level of comprehension. Something about lakes and Starbucks, and she wishes he'd wait until she's a bit more calm to say this... ]

[ A small hum of acknowledgement is all he gets for a few moments as she stares at the ground and turns over this invitation in her head. ]

The shrine...we would be safer there than here?

[ Speaking of safety, she's only now realizing she doesn't have her gun on her anymore. ]

Certainly so. [ he looks over at his own gun -- ] I could set this up this better there, too...

...From what I remember, it is quite accurate in aim and good for shooting from a long distance. We could defend ourselves from approaching enemies using this if we must.

[ and... well, if Monaco became his temporary ally, that was one less person who'd try and kill him, too. ]

[notunaforyou]

[ As he starts to speak, she shakily stands up from where she's sitting beneath a tree and begins to slowly walk back toward the bush where she dropped her gun. It's too dark to see it, though. ]

[ But she stops maybe ten feet away, having determined that that sheep corpse isn't something she wants to get any closer to than she absolutely must. She's still not listening entirely, but rather humming and nodding at appropriate times. ]

It would be for the best, then.

[ Swallows, turning back to look at him and smiling almost guiltily. ]

But I don't know where my gun went.

[ you'll forgive him for his wary gaze, right? ]

It would probably be best to leave for zone C6 right away, unless you insist on searching for it...?

[ at least he could guard her if she did, but he isn't really liking that idea. The longer they stay out in the open, too many things could go wrong. ]

I'd like to find it, if you don't mind.

[ A small, nervous laugh. ]

I would hardly be much of an ally without it, after all.

[ She knows he's just going to cut her free if she proves herself to be dead weight, and without a gun, she's likely to become just that very quickly. Or simply just dead, but she'd rather not think about that. ]

If you'd like to go ahead without me, I would understand, but this should only take a few minutes...

[jipangu]

[ ... ] [ a longer pause, before he nods with a small sigh. ]

Then I will wait a few minutes, Monaco-san, but if you need more time, I will go on ahead. You may meet with me later, if that is the case...

[notunaforyou]

This shouldn't take long, I just--

[ Haltingly takes another step toward the sheep corpse before stopping again. Even though it looks dead, she really just doesn't want to get near it. ]

[ Takes a deep breath to steel herself against the idea of moving any closer to that monster, dead or not. ]

This will only take a few moments. Please don't leave without me.

[ And she steps carefully back into what she thinks is her bush to look for her gun. ]

[ and he'll wait for a few minutes, like he said he would. ]

[ ...giving another sigh when they pass. Should he go on ahead after all? ]

Monaco-san, if you are having difficulty finding it...? [ may he leave -- ]

[ She thought she'd dropped it right here... Where is it? Why can't she find it?! ]






[ She doesn't really know how to say this, but-- ]

I can't find it at all.

[jipangu]

[ ...he had a feeling. ]

May I go on ahead, in that case?

If it helps, I will not leave the Starbucks without meeting with you there first, Monaco-san...

[ She thought she was dropping enough hints that she'd like some help, but now she's just confused and getting upset. She'd left it right here, hadn't she? ]

Don't leave--

[ Scurries out of the bushes and back over toward him, not wanting him to just take off into the darkness without her. ]

...Perhaps I could...return to find it in the morning?

[ With you, she means. You and the machine gun. ]

[ ...Oh. His gaze meets hers directly, and he nods after a long moment -- ]

That might be fine...
