This is a very rambling post today, I'm sorry, I'm in a tired rush. A tired tired summer rush. Which, in my professional opinion, is the most annoying kind of rush. I prefer a crisp winter rush! But oh well.

At least I can protect myself, but I know the ones who were less fortunate with their weapons will do whatever it takes to get their hands on it.

Well, ...I'm sure it can be useful for something at least.

[Shakes his head, roughly.]

I'm sorry, Sir! I don't want you to die because you weren't given a fair weapon! You can't even stab someone with that!

I don't know that fair was part of the bargain.

[Eyes his tape, pondering the uses.]

It could certainly restrain someone, if necessary.

[newsing]

[Sighs. Looks away.]

There's no point in restraining someone who's trying to murder you. You're better off just killing them.

Restraints tend to prevent them from murdering you, which sometimes becomes necessary. ...Do you have much combat experience?

[He's never really thought about it. And, useless as he is, he's been around the block]

[newsing]

[Shakes his head.]

No, ...aside from what Julia's taught me.

Good grief, what has she been teaching you?

[Fidgets.]

Nothing much! Just a few drills on proper weapon usage!

She's as nasty as everyone says, but at least she's knows what she's talking about.

[This is clearly something he holds her in high regard for.]

Hmph...she's skilled in that area, I won't deny it.

[He's amazed you survived]

Then you are prepared to do what is necessary to survive? I would rather avoid the ghastly business, but...

[As much as he doesn't want to resort to it, he is. He only hopes his mental state won't collapse from the trauma.]

[He says it with a little too much enthusiasm. Mostly he's still thinking about how much he wanted France to die last year.]

...Well, don't be too eager, it is unpleasant business. I propose we stay here for the time being, it seems things have come to a standstill.

[All these combatants hanging around here and barely any fighting has broken out]

I know, and I won't.

I'm really glad to have found someone who isn't trying to blow my head off.

It is not as though I have the means to do it. You ought to eat something and rest while you may.

[newsing]

I don't think you would anyway. That's why I trust you.

[He gets up to get a few pastries and coffee. Before sitting back down.]

Naturally.

[He'll try very hard to make sense of his map while you eat]

[newsing]

[Despite starving now, his stomach hurts from all the gore he's witnessed and he doesn't feel much like eating.

He does force himself to shove down a few pastries, washing them down with some coffee. Though, the color indicates that there's way too much sugar in there for any normal person to consider it drinkable, but he's happily gulping it down nonetheless.]

[He's loaded his own with sugar for lack of anything else to make it palatable, don't worry.]

I cannot stand traveling through forested areas, perhaps the coast would be easier...but then there is the issue of marine life...

[newsing]

[Nods.]

Marine life means food, but water is also likely to attract other people. The forest would give us plenty of hiding places, but it's easy to lose your way. Some areas are so overgrown you can't walk in a straight line. Much less escape someone who's trying to kill you.

Food? Ugh...

[Consults the map, hmm]

Apparently there is some sort of orchard in this direction. But there is shelter in the opposite direction...
