This is a very rambling post today, I'm sorry, I'm in a tired rush. A tired tired summer rush. Which, in my professional opinion, is the most annoying kind of rush. I prefer a crisp winter rush! But oh well.

Maybe there's a hollow or a covered ditch or something.

[And of course hers is not. Mostly because of the situation itself, not because of lack of interest on her part. But to some extent she is trying to keep some distance between them emotionally. She knows they can't both live through this.]

I think one of the abandoned buildings is nearby... That might be more comfortable than the forest for the night.

Yeah, alright... Maybe there will be a bed you can sleep on, too!

That's a possibility. And it would be more defensible than an open space like this.

[takes his hand and leads him in the direction she thinks they should be going, which turns out to be correct. They're in front of one of the buildings scattered around the island.]

[Walks up the door and rattled the handle, finding it locked. No matter.]

Stand back, just in case...

[Pulls his gun from his holster, holding it ready as he leans his weight onto his injured foot with a slight wince. His other foot comes up, giving a quick kick to the door, knocking it off its hinge and down to the ground, kicking up dust from inside.]

[She stands back as instructed, watching as he kicks down the door. The gun doesn't escape her notice, and she's surprised to see just how strong he is. She's never had any real opportunity to see that before.]

[Just in case there's someone inside she stays quiet behind him, but she moves forward a few steps to peek out from behind his back.]

[Peers inside cautiously, both hands on his gun, ready to shoot if necessary as he surveys the area.]

Looks clear!

[Looks over his shoulder, smiling.]

And there's a bed for you! Probably a little dusty, but better than dirt and rocks, right?

[Moves into the house, looking for anything they can use for light.]

I don't mind a little dust.

[Hopefully he won't notice if her smile seems mechanical.]

[follows him into the house and looks around, making sure to keep her footsteps quiet just in case there's someone there he didn't see]

Where will you sleep?

Uh, that chair over there. I'll move it by the door so I can hear if anyone gets too close!
