Like did he have a car? Dodo--dodo--dodo... yeah! How is your July going so far, meme? Good? Bad? Okay? Scrumtrulescent? ... Question mark? This is a very rambling post today, I'm sorry, I'm in a tired rush. A tired tired summer rush. Which, in my professional opinion, is the most annoying kind of rush. I prefer a crisp winter rush! But oh well.

[Closes his eyes and tilts his head into the touch. Even if it does hurt, that offers some small comfort.]

Send me home. I'll do it myself.

[it doesn't work like that, he knows it doesn't. he didn't go home last time and it's not going to happen for Norway, either. but for Norway-]


[starts lowering him down into the water]


Spare key's in the mailbox, if ya need, a'right?

[Maybe it didn't work like that. But he's been pushing the idea out this whole time. Having to wait until all of it's done. At least he won't be here, and that is some comfort, too.]

[Lets his hand slide to touch Denmark's cheek again, then nods. Then licks his lips, thinking.]

You'll have to hold me down.

[Just reminding him. As much as he wants it over, his body won't.]

Yeah. Ya want me t'put ya out fer it...?

[Shifts a little under him, looking thoughtful. In a way this situation is almost ridiculous, and not in the least due to the fact that he knows if it were a bit different - just a bit - he would enjoy it. Denmark above him. Coarse sand and water surrounding him. Soaked right through with a wet chill that goes straight to the bones. If it weren't for the situation - and if it were his own home, or Denmark's shores -]

[He closes his eyes and latches onto that thought.]

No. I don't.

[Hesitates, then opens one eye]

'Less it's easier on you.

[kingkongeriget]

[shakes his head]


[it's going to be hard either way, so he'd rather let Norway have what he wants]


's fine. I'll see ya later, Nor.

[iceandheather]

Right.

[He feels he should say something else, but nothing comes to mind. So he just sighs, closes his eyes, and sags under him, unresisting - for the moment, at least.]

[kingkongeriget]

[lays him down]


[then, puts one hand on his chest--]


[--and pushes]

[iceandheather]

[For the first few seconds, he's calm. It's nothing. Then he breathes - water in his nose, water in his mouth, thick and heavy and stinging. He coughs, tries to breathe again. Can't.]

[His eyes fly open, stinging from the salt, and he can see the shadow above him. He knows that hand holding him down, and he knows who that shadow is, and it's fine, it really is, except that he can't breathe and his body struggles and tries to push against that hold no matter how much he tries to keep himself still.]

[keeps steady, letting his weight do the work]

[And he tries to get away from the weight that's pressing on him, but he can't move. Denmark has him trapped. It hurts, everything hurts, and the saltwater filling him up burns his insides and burns his eyes and he can't breathe.]

[This goes on for a while - at least, to him, it seems like forever - and as he draws in the sea that suffocates him he's incredibly aware of who is holding him down, who is holding him, and somehow, just like that kiss, this feels right.]

[Norway is dimly aware that it's a little fucked up, but dismisses that thought, and instead latches on to the thought of Denmark above him, and the sand below him, and the water surrounding him.]

[He stills. Eventually. The struggling stops. The movements stop. His breathing stops.]

[Everything stops.]

[It's over.]

[sits back, waiting a minute, just to be sure, then gathers him up and carries him back to dry land]


[covers him with a spare towel and sticks the spear point-down into the ground above his head. it's the least he can do.]


[he doesn't move on until the sun goes down. once it's dark, he walks back into the cover of the woods, taking Norway's things with him]

[this time the viking funeral didn't work out so well - everything was just too wet, and the fire got extinguished before it could burn the body]

I think you had the cleanest death of all this year! The quietest, too. And you got far again. Good job!

[lifts him up, not minding the added weight from the soaked clothes and water-filled lungs, and brings him to the burial ground]
