Who's your favorite painter? Or one of your favorites?

I like uhh. Lotsa things, I guess! European art 18th century-19th century... some Japanese art... whatever looks pretty to me.

Oh man, that's hard... probably The Waterseller. And yours?

Fragonard is cool! I love his boudoir paintings, especially the one with the girl lifting a little dog with her feet (and thereby giving us a generous view of her rosy ass).

Something about the old man's face, those creases on his brow - age, and wear, and a hard life - always reminded me of my own grandfather. And it's masterfully painted, of course, but beyond that it's always been a very touching image, for me, and most importantly poignant without being campy (in contrast, look at Bouguereau's equally well-painted but decorative, rosy-cheeked and pretty "beggars"; I love Bouguereau too, mind you, but none of his work shakes this kind of artificiality). It feels honest.

Oh, I like that one too! And I know somebody did a parody Hetalia version once, with France being the pervert in the bushes. ;)
