Still checking out grad schools
At this point I might just go to school in Alberta

Did somebody say Alberta?

Where you at, Anon. Let's talk.

(Though I can't recommend grad schools here, unfortunately.)

Hey...

Looking for grad schools about Eastern European culture in Eastern Europe with classes taught in English is hard

Why hello there! ... Yeah, I'd expect it'd be difficult to find English-language grad schools about that stuff in Eastern Europe. Hmm.

Well, University of Alberta and University of Calgary are both great schools (unfortunately I didn't get into either of them, booo) but I don't know if they actually offer anything that you're looking for! Might be worth a look, though. I kind of want to suggest University of Saskatchewan too, but... I don't actually know if they offer any Eastern Europe stuff; I just remember seeing a shitload of books in some Cyrillic-text-or-other in the library when I was there.

I wish I could be more help, fffff....

I would expect there would be some English taught courses in an attempt to attract international students but I know this university in Kharkiv is obsessed with Comic Sans and doesn't really explain what's in their undergrad program vs grad program or tuition or anything in terms of classes
Warsaw is my other option but I'm still confused with it

I'll check it out too since I wanted a few backup plans and Canada is probably what I'm going to fall back on

I don't remember which schools, but my university used to have a lot of ads up for scholarships about Ukrainian Studies and language in Canada, so... yeah stuff is out there for Canada for US students. I forget requirements and things though.

/general encouragement
/pretend I don't know who you are

At the very least I'd be fine with broadening it out with Eastern European studies and there's plenty of that in the US but it's just really super expensive
That and my main goal was being able to say "I studied Eastern European history and culture in Eastern Europe"

With Alberta and the surrounding areas at least there's "I studied Eastern European history and culture in a place with a huge Eastern European population

UGHHHHH GRAD SCHOOL IS HARD
WHY DO I LOVE A LAME PART OF THE WORLD!?

SCHOLARSHIPS

get scholarships, you can study abroad, do work at multiple universities - as long as you're studying and making connections because scholars are all connected

HONESTLY WHILE IT MAY BE HARD AND STUFF JUST TELL YOURSELF THAT THE FEWER PEOPLE THERE ARE THE MORE $$$ YOU'LL GET FOR RESEARCH AND SCHOLARSHIPS PLUS RUSSIAN IS CRITICAL LANGUAGE YOU CAN GET MONEY FOR THAT

That is such a good point and I will admit DOING ALL OF THAT TERRIFIES ME
But I'm going into an area of study that's total crap unless I get off my butt and prove myself

Ughhhh I'm just really nervous and scared

THAT'S SO COOL!
I know I've been looking at that Fulbright to teach English abroad is that what he's doing?
Because I'm already too late and not comfortable to put in for the research Fulbright
The teaching one I'm eligible for and I can gush about why I should study in Ukraine or what have you but it's a matter of the what I hope to do when I'm not teaching

I'M ON THE WEBSITE RIGHT NOW
UKRAINE HAS 2 TEACHING SLOTS AND I THINK THIS YEAR HAD 15 APPLICANTS AS OPPOSED TO THE 200SOME FOR RUSSIA

But I'm graduating with a degree in social sciences which they like, I'm conversational in Russian which they like, and I'm all googly eyed for Ukraine which I just have to convey into words
Plus it's teaching at a uni level and I'm more than positive that will help me out with grad school things not to mention 10 months in Ukraine will really help my Russian out and depending where I am in the country I'll pick up Ukrainian too

It's just a matter of how I'm going to write that essay which scares me like how does Bunni hope to help the country of Ukraine out by teaching English?
