my personal favourite/go-to is probably witch. i don't know if some people might think that's only a female word, but i use it for both.

depending on what kind of story it is, 'magician' can also work - particularly if it's kind of like a profession in your world (except one where they do actual magic, rather than illusions like irl magicians...)

sorcerer and mage both sound rather grand, probably have trappings like a staff; i think harry potter has done a lot to normalise wizard as a general term but i still think of that as kind of flashy stuff and i think it would feel weird applied to someone doing nature/surroundings-based magic instead of like object-based magic.
