THE BOOK THIEF

so tragic

I have no idea how the movie is going to work. I have a feeling it will not do well in the box office, though! IT's coming out in November and there's not even a trailer out!!

So so so worried for this movie. I loved the book so much, so if it's bad, or if it doesn't capture the scope of it...

Also going by the actors it looks like they're doing the "British accent = foreign" thing that I'm not too fond of.

Ughh nooo, I hope they put on German accents. I doub tthey will.

Honestly, I don't know how they'll do this without Death. I haven't seen any indicating that they will be using Death, which... I mean, you CAN extract the story without Death in it but? I mean? Idk. It just feels like it's losing a piece of the story

Yo actually looking again it does look like they got German actors for most of the other characters so maybe I'm wrong, it's just Rosa & Hans that are British.

And yeah, I don't see anyone cast as Death so idk how that's gonna work, but I hope they do that well!

Omg Rudy of course they picked the freaking cutest baby to play him, just kill me now idk if I'll be able to handle it.

I teared up just seeing an edit someone made from the stills that were released with a quote about Rudy. I CAN'T HANDLE IT ANON. I CAN'T. HANDLE IT. This book made me a sobbing mess.

Hmm hmm! We'll see about the accents whenever they release a trailer, I guess.

I imagine what they'll do is probably just extract the story without Death being there and make it a straight period/WW2 film. The only way I could see Death working would be have him be the protagonist, show him doing his 'work' and drop in on the 'book thief' story in between his narrations (like the part with the men who died horribly, who he carried like precious infants)? But they won't do that, I don't think... I'm guessing straight-up period film without Death.

Ditto to the sobbing mess thing. I've read some heartbreaking stuff but oh my god.

It'll really be a shame if they leave out death :(( death was one of the most interesting and unique parts of the book. I guess it's hard to put it on film though.
