part 340 tender lumplings everywhere

The best season is coming, meme! Halloween season! I mean... fall! Yeah, fall. I love the fall. I actually like every season in its own way, but I think fall has the best atmosphere. Crunching leaves and pumpkins and excuses to decorate the outside of your house with fake spider webs and zombie hands. Also it means... Hetalia Halloween fanart! (Maybe even... something from Himaruya? Maybe? Bueller? No?)

Enjoy part 340!

drabble in which china is a peeper

When Great Mother found China, she had been only a girl. He was playing in the forest alone, as he often did, when she stumbled upon him and would not leave. She picked him up with some difficulty and carried him home to her small village, but her parents sent him away. A poor farmer could not afford another mouth to feed.

China did not mind very much. He preferred living in the outskirts of the village, where he could peek into homes and visit families who either doted on him or gladly put him to work. But still, he would often come back to her family's hut and peek into their window to see her going about the hut, performing her daily chores.

One morning, she was not there. He walked around the village until he asked someone--an old woman who sold river shells in front of her poor hut--where he might find her. The woman pointed him in the direction of another home, where the married Great Mother now resided. And so he peeked in the window and saw her--a woman, no longer a girl, being called by Great Mother's name.

It was a concern.

But he continued to visit her window. Afraid to ask for her, in case she did not remember him. One morning, she was not there, either. He went to find the old woman who sold river shells, but she was no longer there, and inside of her hut was an old man who told China to (in less polite terms) find something else to do.

He searched and searched the village, until he looked into the window of a small hut--and found her.

When Great Mother found China, she had been only a girl. When China found Great Mother, she was an old woman. China watched with fascination as a young girl, who looked remarkably like the Great Mother he first remembered, called to an old and brittle woman for her afternoon meal. He found himself wanting to go inside, but was afraid she might pet his hair and cry, as old women tended to do. But he continued to visit her window, and wonder at how she groaned when she walked, and how her hair had become white and coarse.

One morning, when he peeked in the window, he did not find her. A young woman with a husband and a young boy were there instead.
