The best season is coming, meme! Halloween season! I mean... fall! Yeah, fall. I love the fall. I actually like every season in its own way, but I think fall has the best atmosphere. Crunching leaves and pumpkins and excuses to decorate the outside of your house with fake spider webs and zombie hands. Also it means... Hetalia Halloween fanart! (Maybe even... something from Himaruya? Maybe? Bueller? No?)

I can't speak for anyone else, but I used to feel that there's so much Spamano subtext in canon that if I don't acknowledge that somehow by giving them a romantic past, requited or not, I'm coming off as a delusional shipper who is ignoring canon in favour of her OTP. I don't feel that way anymore, but it used to affect my writing a lot.

/late but I sort of understand what you mean - a lot of my older fics have that vibe too, like, my old Prumanos usually have Spain as Romano's ex because it just seemed so natural. But honestly nowadays even their somewhat more flirty moments come off as more friendly teasing than anything. Spain is just the kind of guy who would be all cute with Romano just because he knows it makes Romano flustered and angry. And a lot of people forget that Romano is kinda tsuntsun towards a lot of people in canon, including his own brother, and not just Spain - it's basically his default mode when he's not scared shitless. But I dunno, sometimes I overdose on this pairing and the bad characterization it seems to bring with itself in a lot of fanfics so I go through moments of complete refusal and this might just be a carry over from such moments.

Also sorry if this comes off as confusing but my brain is already asleep, zzz.
