part 343 pieces of discounted Halloween candy

stock up while it's on sale! Anyway: I. can't. believe. it. I really can't. I mean, I do believe it. So I guess I can believe it. But STILL. I've been saying all month that we'd get doodles, if anything, but--AN EVENT. An event! <>A real event. With ghosts! And mysterious happenings! And Hong Kong being a butt! I can't wait to see what happens next!

Enjoy part 343!

Yes, I've seen it. Not the remake, though.

It's good - I liked the book as well, but I think I prefer the film; it removed some things in the book that bothered me.

/dif

I've heard about some things in the book that make me... :| Particularly the nature of the relationship between Hanke(sp?) and Eli.

It's been a while since I read it, and unfortunately I no longer own the novel so I can't check specifics. But the relationship between Håkan and Eli is... very creepy, and in a way that I'm not usually looking for when I go looking to read horror, if you know what I mean.

But in the film, most of that stuff is either snipped or put behind a curtain, so to speak, so I didn't have so much of a "DO NOT WANT" reaction there. (Er, from what I remember. It's been a long while since I saw the film too)

For me, in the film, it was more like he was devoted to her--almost in a "Renfield and Dracula" type of way. She was his superior. That was how I took it, not... well, that creepier way.

The remake actually makes it creepy as fuck without delving into that sort of ick from the book... idk if you want spoilers but yeah.

Now I kind of want to re-watch it to see if I catch what you mean about the Renfield and Dracula parallel. Sounds good.

I haven't seen the remake yet, but it's on the to-do list; I'm glad it manages to be creepy without being -- well, like the novel.

Håkan is a pedophile. (It's intended to be awful, and it is.)
