The power flip is what makes it fun! Especially with Russia who was a superpower not too long ago and probably tries to forget about his less powerful days.

And I think I remember that one! It was definitely strong on the humiliation factor and my only complaint, if I remember it correctly, was that Russia gave in a little too easily. I'm pretty sure it was on the current part if you want to hunt it down!

City of Fortune: How Venice Won and Lost a Naval Empire by Roger Crowley. It was all right, though I feel it could have been more detailed in some places.

Main thing is that it reminded me how little I know about the Mediterranean during the middle ages. And also that I really should read more about the Ottoman Empire one of these days....

A-aha Genshiken Second Season volume 3

The art is top-notch as ever, the gender politics are getting strange, and the last remaining male character still in the club from the original series is something of a joke but then he kind of always was. Business as usual I guess, haha I mean even early Genshiken is nothing like mid- to late-Genshiken so it stands to reason the second series would trundle off in another direction. And it's fun to follow a new cast of characters!
