part 347 dimensions of sight and sound

and of mind. Do do do do do do do do do do do.

How was your end-of-December-into-January time, meme? Did you make any New Year's resolutions? Or light a candle in your window in the hopes that Himaruya would update again instead of leaving us behind like an 19th century light house keeper's wife whose husband has gone off to sea? ... Did you?

Enjoy part 347!

{Well, drat. And it's a romance novel he's already read too!}

{Browsing through the horror novels, picks up King's 'Salem's Lot.}

I suppose... this will be a good read... {The cover makes him a bit uneasy, though.}

I love when Prussia says fuck. In all honesty, I probably make him curse too much when I write him, but I don't care. I like it!

{Jumps a bit by the sudden hand on his shoulders, looks up to see that it's Ms. Prussia.}

Really? But I thought I was in the right section?

I love swearing Prussia, I don't even know why but it just seems wrong to not have them swear.

I like when authors make Romano react to things with stuff like "Tch!" and "Keh!" and other things like that. But the moment has to be right, and it can't be overdone or it loses that something.

Don't worry, the cool me will find something good for you! So what's your poison, English? French? I'd recommend German if you want something really heart-wrenching!!
kingkongeriget: (do they speak English in What?)

I love having Denmark flub/make up words, like X-majig or X-amasummatorother. And words like fiddlybits. Fiddlysummats. Like maybe he heard good vocab somewhere but couldn't be bothered to learn it right. Someone please have a vocabulary intervention with this guy.

{Dragged all the way to the opposite side of the meme library. Wow she was right - the selection here looks much better than where he was at.}

Um... E-English... if that's okay with you? {Doesn't know if she'll get mad at him for not choosing German. Trembling a bit because one it's Prussia and two he's not really good with people.}

English...English...let's see here... [She's skimming the books for something good, looking back only at that qualifier.]

I don't care what language you re- Oy, are you okay!?

[it's vitally important research!]

Fix them up? Since when were you one of the magical ones!? I thought that was just Norwegen!!

Keehhh...maybe there's some mythology books that'll have historical accounts about that?

[starts walking off towards the mythology section, assuming Denmark will follow her.]

Re: Favorite mangakas

(Anonymous) 2014-01-25 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm more a fan of series than creators. I choose what I read based on what sounds interesting and don't really consider myself such a fan of anyone that I'd pick up everything they produce.

Naoki Urasawa is the only one whose works I have never been disappointed by and whose stuff I like so much that I want to read it all. The only problem is that his manga makes me feel such intense emotions that I can only bear to read a little bit at a time, so it's a slow process. He's just too good at making me love minor characters and then I'm always devastated if something tragic happens to them.

Other than that, the only person on my "must buy everything" list is Rihito Takarai, but that's more because I like slow, slice of life BL rather than because I think she's absolutely brilliant. That kind of BL doesn't get licensed nearly enough.

Mochizuki Jun of Pandora Hearts. The art is just gorgeous. The detail she puts in dresses is just amazing. And she's good at portraying character expressions too.

I also like Yana Toboso of Kuroshitsuji for the art, even if I don't follow the manga much anymore these days.

Story and plot-wise, I like Aoyama Gosho of Detective Conan, Higuchi Asa of Ookiku Furikabutte and Yellow Tanabe of Kekkaishi.

Kaori Yuki. Everything is as beautiful as it is fucked up.

Re: Favorite mangakas

Kaoru Mori, kind of obligatory, her attention to detail is lovely, great narrative style
Yuusuke Murata, is just. ridiculous. didn't read eyeshield 21, but from what I've seen in Onepunch-man, he's absurdly good.
Hiromu Arakawa, I really like the themes she tackles, and she writes nice, fleshed-out characters
Hoshino Katsura, I really liked her early and later styles
Akiko Higashimura, pacing and decompression, characters
Asano Inio, good pace,insanely detailed
Takako Shimura, good pacing and characters
