part 347 dimensions of sight and sound

and of mind. Do do do do do do do do do do do.

How was your end-of-December-into-January time, meme? Did you make any New Year's resolutions? Or light a candle in your window in the hopes that Himaruya would update again instead of leaving us behind like an 19th century light house keeper's wife whose husband has gone off to sea? ... Did you?

Enjoy part 347!

What makes a good character portrayal?

Discuss the nations and what, in your opinion, HAS to be a trait or part of their portrayal to make it a good portrayal?

England's the worst for this but it goes generally too - they HAVE to be jerks to at least some extent. They all are in canon and that combined with the fact they can also be sympathetic and/or cute is what makes the characters for me.

If you make England a poor selfless wobbie it's not just out of character, it's boring.

yeah, ~poor eternal victim england~ is very annoying. it makes me unable to sympathize with him when he's a poor little woobie who did no wrong. i feel set up. the angst is too manufactured.

but when he's more of a jerk, or egotistical, or callous about other people's feelings, and then he's lonely or dissatisfied with his relationships but it's partially his own fault but he's too stubborn to admit it… that's when i sympathize with him the most. it feels more real.

this goes for all nations, really. especially when they are in fact nations, not humans.
