(actually, it could be something totally normal like the mom's on a trip or the child is staying with relatives. when i was little, i was raised mostly by my grandparents and when we (my parents and i) moved further away i was really sad and cried myself to sleep and threw tantrums for a long while, even though they were still THERE and in my life… it's harder to accept change when you are young, so it seems more dramatic)
