part 347 dimensions of sight and sound

and of mind. Do do do do do do do do do do do.

How was your end-of-December-into-January time, meme? Did you make any New Year's resolutions? Or light a candle in your window in the hopes that Himaruya would update again instead of leaving us behind like an 19th century light house keeper's wife whose husband has gone off to sea? ... Did you?

Enjoy part 347!

ITT: Preferences for how your favorite character(s) gets drawn

Since Himaruya's an inconsistent fucker which gives lots of "freedom" and his art style makes some things invisible...

i like the italies - both of them - to err on the pretty side. this is probably a backlash against the irritatingly smug SO MANRY "more accurate" italies i've seen on tumblr.

in general i like the characters to be recognizable as they appeared in the original source material. i mean, there's some leeway i suppose but i do not like outright changes - for example, turning romano's hair curly when it is clearly straight, russia having a straight nose when it's clearly curved, england having normal size eyebrows (ditto for his other eyebrow-cursed kin)

I like the art in Volume 3. I feel like it's the perfect balance between cute and nice looking.

YES. Volume 3 was very lovely, and is forever my headcanon on how the chatacters look. Himaruya's art has "improved" a lot since then, on proportions and such, especially everyone getting "prettier," but the Volume 3 art had so much characterization to it with all the little quirks and such. It was just so good.

Before everyone became either bishie or shota-looking despite being canonically old as balls.
