part 347 dimensions of sight and sound

and of mind. Do do do do do do do do do do do.

How was your end-of-December-into-January time, meme? Did you make any New Year's resolutions? Or light a candle in your window in the hopes that Himaruya would update again instead of leaving us behind like an 19th century light house keeper's wife whose husband has gone off to sea? ... Did you?

Enjoy part 347!

Am I cheating if I ask about rev!America headcanon when he was trained by Prussia?

If so, then enlighten me about Russia's guilty pleasures~

Maybe! But I don't care!

I think Rev would've been very culture shocked by how harsh Prussia was compared to England? Like German parenting back then was very...harsh and authoritarian, and boy they were fond of corporal punishment. Like a part of him would've realized how loved he was and how patient and gentle England was compared to Prussia, but at the same time, he'd start to appreciate Prussia's brand of tough love and support.

Like England loved him but ultimately tried to keep him a helpless child whereas while Prussia was harsh and domineering and borderline abusive (especially at first), he also talked to Rev with the respect and consideration worthy of an adult and expected from him an adult's competence in meeting adult responsibilities. I think Prussia would've only really whipped him or condescend him for being childish/bratty or weak after all. Just as a reminder of what the reality of being an colony is, but if Rev succeeded in pleasing Prussia and meeting his expectations, he knew Prussia was treating him like a man and not a boy.

England nurtured him emotionally, but Prussia and co. prepared him for the real world. I think France too was comparable in harshness and realness to Prussia. I study child behavior/rearing and there's this study that french parents are infamous for having great control over their children bc they teach the word "No" really well and their kids respond to verbal commands so there's little need for physical intimidation. So I think France too would've been a fearsome influence in Rev's life. His Revolution training was all tough love from the adults around him bc he was so coddled and sheltered by England his whole life. BUT IDK

Russia's guilty pleasures IS HARD.......... I bet he secretly likes that Belarus wants to live with him? But he wishes she was less psycho bc it brings up some bad memories. But ultimately he ends up welcoming her in his home when she's less excitable and they get really domestic bc they're all sorta close and he loves combing her hair for her

That's so detailed mun! And it makes so much sense considering the era he was in as well as the events going on. There's honestly quite a bit owed to these nations other than England for America's independence and growth as a nation.

Speaking of which, it's kinda sad that Himaruya's notes about America mingling with Germanic blood isn't really explored too much. I certainly would enjoy seeing some strips pertaining to that one day, but any update from Himaruya would be golden.

Aww, haha, that's really cute. If only she didn't claw at his door sometimes just to be with him.

wahh, i'm glad you think so! Prussia's actually interesting because he seems to be the big brother who sweeps in and helps out the younger nations. Like he was a supporting hand for the Italian unification effort, and also plucked little Germany away from French and Austrian control and then he also supported America, and I'm sure there's a few more I'm hazy on but it's cool to think he has a big heart for younger nations and just has a really paternal side to him that's sadly not explored often in canon at all.

and Yup! Dutch and German were huge cultural influences, it's kinda weird Himaruya doesn't really explore that too, but I'm sure he will some day!

And lmao i wish we'd get calm normal belarus more so she can have normal relationships too. I especially want strips from where America adopted her as his little sister for a bit
