part 348 candles in the lighthouse window

Hey meme! How are you doing? What is up? Do you also have a candle lit in your window for the return of Himaruya? like anon who is a light house wife! I hope he returns from the sea soon, with stories of adventure and sea monsters and the life outside the island. Ah, Himaruya. Safe journeys. Safe... journeys.

Enjoy part 348!

Re: Weirdest character interpretations

Most of the super dark and angsty headcanons fall into this category for me. It's like some people have totally missed that Hetalia is a comedy and that the few serious moments we have are more bittersweet than full-on angst torpedoes.

I have no problem with angsty and/or serious fics (love them, actually), but I feel there's usually this unspoken agreement between the writer and the reader that the fic has been inspired by canon but is not spiritually faithful to it. But when people post headcanons, I always interpret it as "I believe this fits seamlessly into canon" and then I'm left wondering just WHAT is going on with these people.

I like dark fics too - and will add, I also like kinky fics, AU fics, various other fics that have some roots in canon but take an entirely different tone and understandably adjust the characterization to fit in the logic of that world. I'm very flexible about that stuff, in a fic.

But I don't get it when it comes to headcanons, because headcanon = something that's not canon, but also not directly going against canonverse. And a lot of the super angsty ones are completely ooc and don't make any sense in canonverse, so they're more AU territory or fic concept than anything.

(Also, many of them are unbearably cheesy. Like they're clearly intended to be deep and sad, but they only make me laugh.)
