(but i am tragically behind and only on ep 9 so unfortunately must hold back on spoilers)

(though i know something big happens that changes the tone of the show and apparently breaks fans' hearts later-ish?)

unpopular opinion but i actually am very fond of this kind of loopy, over-the-top fanservice and wacky-crass humor that gainax does, so this show is like, my new chocolate

plus i have a crush on main character, she's so hot and even kind of caters to my kinks ahhhh

It's just as whacky the entire time but yes, it takes a really dark undertone about halfway through! And yet it's still crazy. You should catch up.

The animation is just so good I want to bathe in it.

i took an unintended hiatus from anime/tv/...everything... for quite a while, but then last weekend i remembered this - and marathoned like six episodes in a row. i'm going to be good and avoid temptation during the workweek but this weekend i'm gonna hit the rest of it

the storyboard artist on this is god. i'm just. ahhhhh.
