part 349 heart shaped chocolates

Hi meme! Happy Valentine's day! I hope you have a sweet one. (Get it? Sweet? Because... chocolates and candies. Yeahhh.) Sadly, I don't think a candle in the window for Himaruya has led him home--yet. It's all very romantically tragic. Or tragically romantic. I don't know.

Enjoy part 349!

I avoid spicy food. I hate it. Even ordinary black pepper, although just a little of that is ok.

Unless ginger counts as spicy? It's a spice. Or cinnamon. Or other things found in the spice cabinet. I just don't like hot peppers and other things like them.

My spicy food limit seems to be seedless jalapenos. Anything hotter has me in tears and don't get me started on cayenne/red pepper. It tastes like burning.

Once I ordered curry that was marked medium. I finished it but I also WEPT involuntarily in the restaurant. I now know it's all true about midwesterners and spicy food, I am a baby.

I do love aromatics but not heat.

Poor dear!

It may be that the particular restaurant's medium was spicier than what most people consider medium! Or, like a place I get Thai from, which is really inconsistent... one day I can get medium and it's nothing, the next I can get medium and I can't even eat it.

Oh yeah, that's the case with a different Indian restaurant here too. It varies by the day depending on who's cooking. Plus I have to keep in mind that most of the cooks have probably grown up with this stuff and are totally used to it. I don't want to know what "hot" is, in that case!

Part of it is definitely me, though. I can't stand hot peppers in any kind of quantity but I handle things like wasabi like a pro.

The only one I like is garlic.

i have a low tolerance for spicy foods but i often end up accidentally eating or ordering spicy foods

the first time i went to chipotle, i asked for all mild stuff but i think they played a trick on me or something went wrong somewhere because i started eating my burrito and after only a few bites i couldn't even feel the entire lower half of my face

one time i went to an indian restaurant and ordered something mild and a few sentences later when the guy taking my order was confirming it he said, "so really spicy, right?" and i got this horrified look on my face and he laughed at me when i squeaked out, "no! mild!!"

I have a terrible relationship with spicy food; I love it, but my tolerance for it is pitifully low. That person who is crying and continually wiping at their nose whilst simultaneously exclaiming how delicious the food is? THAT PERSON IS ME. Especially if the food in question is Indian-style curry, kimchi stew, tteokbokki, jjampong, or sundaeguk.
