I think a lot of schools do this, rather than address the bullying itself. In middle school I went through a "goth" phase and was getting stuff thrown at me, names yelled at me in the hall and in classes, and when I finally went to the principal about it he said "well, maybe you shouldn't wear those clothes, and people won't throw things."

Not American, but when I was 13 years old we had a couple of classes devoted to teaching us the basics about puberty, sex, pregnancy and STDs in my country.

And before that, when I was about 10 or 11 I got a pamphlet about menstruation with a free sanitary pad and instructions to ask my parents if anything remained unclear.

For jfen I would say the golden days lasted from 2008 to 2011, right when Himaruya stopped updating haha... And for wfen a little later, like late 2008 or early 2009 and somewhere around 2010.

As for me, I thought the fandom was at its best during late 2008 and early 2010, because of all the historical and epic fanart and fic.
