We've been here over a year now! I can hardly believe it! Dreamwidth's been pretty good, I'd say, with almost no downtime to speak of and all that! Anyway... how is your spring going? Or I guess it's almost summer, isn't it? Hopefully it's been well! I've been catching up on work and new movies, all very exciting stuff, I'm sure.

Issues fic. Eating disorder, depression, domestic abuse, whatever it is, it seems 99% bound to reduced the characters to nothing more than cheap hand puppets in the author's smug soapbox PSA play, and I utterly detest didactic stories.

[You know, this nice clearing seems to be intended for public use, and happens to make a nice picnic area, so...excuse her while she sits and relaxes with an exquisite packed lunch and a couple of her little pet dogs, while her horse grazes nearby. Compared to the Thing from the Woods over there, she's excessively fancy looking and above all well fed, because she had the sense to give up the chase and wait it out instead.

He can probably smell cold cuts and pastries from where he is, if his sense of smell is anything like her sense of HEARING, which is currently being BADLY DAMAGED- jumps out of her skin at the screeching]

tbh i can't think of any fic like that off the top of my head either. i don't read a lot of AU (in this fandom in particular, since the history canon is already such a big part of the draw-in..) but i think that might make AUs a little more appealing for me too.

But in all seriousness I'm curious whether, when Spain gets really and truly ticked off, he's a hotheaded raging-bull brawler or a smiling-seething yandere or what.

...and I want to see Portugal's interactions with other nations, and furthermore interactions that reveal a lot about his personality and relationships, and please for the love of fuck form something of a deeper impression than "gee I guess Portugal's... nice..."

And I don't mean bad, just weird. The other day, I was reminded of this fic I read in which Prussia turned into a horse and Hungary took him in without knowing it was him, and he lived as her horse forever, or something along those lines. It was a pretty good fic.
