We've been here over a year now! I can hardly believe it! Dreamwidth's been pretty good, I'd say, with almost no downtime to speak of and all that! Anyway... how is your spring going? Or I guess it's almost summer, isn't it? Hopefully it's been well! I've been catching up on work and new movies, all very exciting stuff, I'm sure.

This. It wasn't just about making some nerd panels. There are artists selling, also those of us who purchased tickets to events being hosted by the con. Why wouldn't we want to keep it going?

i'm following the tag on tumblr and christ there's so much "you'll raise 17k for a con that has a lot of visitors and is verifiable and probably close to you but you won't give money to a complete stranger like me to pay for my rent/transition??? hdu" complaining

At 9:00pm on Friday of DashCon 2014, hotel management gave con staff an ultimatum: raise $17,000 by 10:00pm, or the con gets shut down.

One incredible half-hour later, the staff announced that enough money had been raised. I just had to capture the energy and emotion in the room at that wonderful moment.

We are DashCon. We are tumblr. We are fandom. We are the champions, we will stand as one, and we will NOT be crushed.

People kept throwing up the Hunger Games salute, both as a symbol of solidarity and a sign to get people to quiet down and listen. “Take down Strex” and “What do we say to death? Not today!” also came up. At one point, everyone started singing, “Do You Hear The People Sing”, and then someone turned on “Carry On My Wayward Son” and “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

mockingjay AGAIN. Stirring speach by random dude who seems to make announcements. “This is our place, this is us.” blah blah band together, money. Someone is throwing homestuck gang signs and trying to explain “morelles?”

And people wonder why geeks and nerds get stereotyped and mocked...

a few months ago an anon messaged my historical sideblogs asking why i would use such "crude" words. they never specified what they were referring to but i'm guessing it was my blog's title (it's a fuck yeah blog ftr) because the only blog i swear on is my personal

One time Prussia and Austria had a drunk girly sleepover in which Prussia made Austria watch the German dub of MLP. Prussia's favorite pony is obviously Rainbow Dash, and unsurprisingly Austria decided she liked Rarity. Austria also commented that German!Scootaloo sounds a lot like Prussia used to when she was a little kid.

Needless to say, Teuton was not amused when her big self tried to get her to watch an episode.

(Obviously this is all based on Friendship is Magic, because MLP was not a high priority on the list of 'things you missed on the other side of the wall')

Oh, I see.

After reading up on the tag, I'm actually amused by tumblr's response. People even saying "if you/someone you knew went to dashcon, then unfollow me now", which is a pretty extreme thing to do over so little. Plus the users complaining on how they went ahead and funded the con, but wouldn't give money to strangers.

tl;dr tumblr is being immature about something, news at eleven.

They raised $17,000 in an hour for this con... but would any of them have even tried to raise $17,000 in an hour for a charity? Or to help someone who needed it for an emergency medical bill?

So, I was thinking of streaming the movies in the Ring series that I have!

(I have Ring, Rasen, Ring 2, Ring 0, The Ring, The Ring 2, Rings, and Sadako 3D. I have all but Ring Virus and Sadako 3D2, although I don't have my Sadako 3D right now)

Would anyone be interested in watching tonight? I was going to stream at least the first Ring.
