part 353 whalers on the moon

We've been here over a year now! I can hardly believe it! Dreamwidth's been pretty good, I'd say, with almost no downtime to speak of and all that! Anyway... how is your spring going? Or I guess it's almost summer, isn't it? Hopefully it's been well! I've been catching up on work and new movies, all very exciting stuff, I'm sure.

Enjoy part 353!

I could probably put together some icons if you're willing to wait a few days. Though he doesn't have all that much canon art from what I remember! Which is too bad, really.

Speaking of canon, one thing that I found has helped me out a lot for doing canon review is to put together an index of my character's canon appearances. That makes it easy to look up things when I need to. Obviously for someone like Italy this would be really hard, but for Egypt it'd probably be relatively easy.

Researching the basic history/culture is important too of course... Don't worry about being an expert on it though. But for characters who don't have a lot of canon appearances, it can be a helpful way to figure out what their personalities, interests, and thought processes might be. (Especially the cultural stuff - I find that's very helpful).

Another thing I feel is important is, at least when you start threading, have dialogue and/or actions in addition to internal monologue in your tags. It's hard to respond to someone if they're only thinking, and not saying or doing something for other characters to respond to.

Anyway. Also: Meme is very slow at times, so don't worry if you don't get a lot of responses right away. It can be discouraging, but it's important to keep that in mind. (And also that meme is silly.)

((Actually, that would be super, super helpful. I could only find fanart [as you can see]. But that would be amazing if you don't mind. I need all the help I can get. Egypt is so under-appreciated.))

psst, tag your out of character posts as ooc! it helps other memers to keep the character's characterisation straight in their head

you could also consider not making a lot of ooc posts, people have in past complained that it takes away from the character. not saying this is a lot! but just in the future, something to possibly consider, if you want

but please use the ooc tags! :)
