part 353 whalers on the moon
We've been here over a year now! I can hardly believe it! Dreamwidth's been pretty good, I'd say, with almost no downtime to speak of and all that! Anyway... how is your spring going? Or I guess it's almost summer, isn't it? Hopefully it's been well! I've been catching up on work and new movies, all very exciting stuff, I'm sure.
Enjoy part 353!

(Anonymous) 2014-06-22 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)i went through this with my mom, too, at first; now that i have moved out and am in a job in my field, our relationship has improved a great deal. i don't necessarily hold it against her that she was tough on me - it was unhelpful, but then again what else was she to do? from her perspective, she was at wit's end, having already made quite a few sacrifices to get me through school, to pay for my college education, and she had thought that by doing so she had secured for me a career and a future as a if not successful then at least ordinary independent working adult. and now here i was back in her house like some sort of overgrown woman-child, and she didn't know what next steps she could do for me and to both of us as time passed it felt more and more like i was doomed. situations like this are stressful for the parent and the child.
if you can, try to talk it out together and try to see things from each other's perspectives. but, idk how well that will work. ultimately the only final solution is to get out of the nest. it's the best for you, and it's the best for your parents - but believe me, i understand that is easier said than done. i wish you the best and good luck with the job hunt!
