part 353 whalers on the moon
We've been here over a year now! I can hardly believe it! Dreamwidth's been pretty good, I'd say, with almost no downtime to speak of and all that! Anyway... how is your spring going? Or I guess it's almost summer, isn't it? Hopefully it's been well! I've been catching up on work and new movies, all very exciting stuff, I'm sure.
Enjoy part 353!

(Anonymous) 2014-06-29 05:54 am (UTC)(link)Even when my the Sims 3 is so full of glitches I can barely play it at all, and it seems they are rushing even more now...

(Anonymous) 2014-06-29 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)I feel like I'm the only person who has never had glitches with the Sims 3???
The only time I ever got glitches was when I used mods/cheats that aren't like 'motherlode' etc.

THAT CAS
...that infamous EA reputation of shoving out unfinished, poorly optimized, glitchy and generally overpriced for the value games. :|
Well, we'll see. I'll wait for reviews and/or patches before I jump in. But nonetheless I'm excited and I can't imagine it'd be worse than TS3 - and the TS4 sims look so much better than TS3, that I'm willing to forgive its flaws. Hell, my expectations are so low that even EA should be able to exceed them - I haven't seriously simmed for I think five years or more, only played TS2 and barely tried out TS3, and I don't play any other games, so surely whatever slight upgrades they've made would impress me in the way that running water would impress someone who's been living in the wilderness hunting wild .gifs for sustenance for the last half decade.
Besides, I'm still looking forward to making sim!England's head literally explode from rage. If ragedeath isn't in the game, I'm going to be so disappointed... but I guess I can console myself by killing sim!America with laughter.

And also YES to dungeoning America! I'll bet sooner or later somebody will make an american revolutionary war uniform, too, so then our sweet baby boy can suffer in style.

I'll make sure to stuff the dungeon fridge with only tea and nothing else.
Drink tea or die! Although I am sad that I cannot use the most classic of sims deaths: drowning. I love using them to decorate houses. Oh well, this dungeon will be only a little less classy than usual.

This is going to be one noisy dungeon if you're stocking it with an Italy and an America. Better invest in some industrial-strength gags~
I'm sad too. I'm glad they are introducing apparently even more goofy ways to die, so maybe that'll partially make up for it, but I feel like the pool couldn't possibly be THAT complicated to add and it's such a sims classic kind of in-joke that it feels even stingier than usual to cut it out and put it in an expansion or an EA store download or whatever money-grubbing scheme they've planned. :(
Speaking of which, I heard there were going to be no supernatural sims in the base game - but I hope that doesn't mean they're excluding ghosts, too! :(

Toddlers and pools are removed, but buy now from first-day DLC and you can have them! Only $40.00 bucks Gold Edition! Man, I hated that...
Aww, if they do I can't make my haunted graveyard either. Oh well. Time to stock the walls with pictures of redcoats and imprisoned Patriots. He'll love that.

Yeahhh, I don't mind DLC in concept but it shouldn't be used as an excuse to chop out bits of the old game and resell those bits as new. C'mon, EA. One of the problems that's dogging the sims franchise is that it does feel a bit repetitious now - like we all know the next expansion is going to be something similar to Nightlife and we'll probably get the vampires, again, and then sooner or later we'll have a Pets thing and we'll get the same stuff from TS3 except TS4-ified... at this point, now that we've gone through so many iterations, I would've hoped they'd be putting MORE not less into the basegame. Like just stuff some of those regular old supernaturals into the base so they have room to go in a new direction and maybe think up some different supernatural sims than the usual for the expansions.
Make sure to tax him regularly for everything. He can pay off the bill with his body. ;)
