part 353 whalers on the moon

We've been here over a year now! I can hardly believe it! Dreamwidth's been pretty good, I'd say, with almost no downtime to speak of and all that! Anyway... how is your spring going? Or I guess it's almost summer, isn't it? Hopefully it's been well! I've been catching up on work and new movies, all very exciting stuff, I'm sure.

Enjoy part 353!

I hate it when I'm looking to buy stuff and there aren't inside-previews. Sometimes the cover art is a lot nicer than what's inside and I want to know what I'm actually getting, argh.

There are few Nordic doujins that are relevant to my interest these days, so I've been branching out a little with my collecting. I wish there were more Belgium books; most of them seem to be Spain/Belgium with the occaaasional Ned/Bel fluff or Tomato Family thing but I want something with more... variety? Substance? Something.

And does anyone have suggestions for circles that do Germany & Prussia stuff? Because I like brothers being brothers but I'm not into Germancest and it's kind of tricky to sort it out. I guess Nor/Ice has the same problem.

I recently bought a Scandinavia Trio doujin that has all of the bad characterization that was common in 2009/2010... except it was released this year. Most of the recent books I've bought have been pretty okay about keeping closer to canon characterization, but this one is like going back in time and it's just plain weird.

It's really hard to find Germany & Prussia stuff with no romance and/or sex involved, especially circles that focus on that. At most, I'd say there are some really good Germancest circles that sometimes put out books that focus more on other things. I might suggest some of Maturin's stuff with the warning that the books do have romantic undertones but it's subtler than in lots of other books.

Another idea is to look for books about Prussia and little Germany because they tend to be brotherly, except if it turns out to be shota, of course.

So it's pretty much how I figured, then. Well, it's good to know. I'll keep that one in mind; I think I can live with subtle romantic undertones. I suppose that in general my best bet is to look for low-rated romance, perhaps.
