part 353 whalers on the moon

We've been here over a year now! I can hardly believe it! Dreamwidth's been pretty good, I'd say, with almost no downtime to speak of and all that! Anyway... how is your spring going? Or I guess it's almost summer, isn't it? Hopefully it's been well! I've been catching up on work and new movies, all very exciting stuff, I'm sure.

Enjoy part 353!

I hate tumblr going WAAAAH WAHHHHH, BIG NAME COMPANIES ARE SHOWING SUPPORT FOR GAY RIGHTS IN ORDER TO EXPLOIT QUEER PEOPLE FOR A QUICK BUCK shut up shut up shut up, big name companies showing active support is a GOOD thing for marginalised people, you sheltered college brats! I only wish there was such a mainstream acceptance over here instead of any company daring to show gay pride support would crash and burn.

+1

Yeah... the fact that being supportive of equal rights is now a selling point is a good thing on the whole, it's both a sign that mainstream ideals are changing AND a stimulus to continue turning the tide even more. Blithering over 'their intentions are profit' is pointless; their intentions were profit all along, all the fucking time, whether it's toward gays straights or whoever.
