We've been here over a year now! I can hardly believe it! Dreamwidth's been pretty good, I'd say, with almost no downtime to speak of and all that! Anyway... how is your spring going? Or I guess it's almost summer, isn't it? Hopefully it's been well! I've been catching up on work and new movies, all very exciting stuff, I'm sure.

Posting about politics/activism... that isn't what I use tumblr for I'm only interested in fandom, so.

I'd rather not unfollow a certain blog but they've already begun sliding down the slippery slope from feminism to wehhh woman good man bad posts so it's probably just a matter of time.

Have pruned off a few blogs that no longer post any fandoms in common with my interests.

a character got a bomb put between their teeth, everything exploded, they were all shown with scorch marks

and they were like THAT IS NOT FUNNY BOMBS KILL PEOPLE THEY WOULDN'T HAVE SURVIVED AND IT'S NOT. FUCKING. COOL.

Like. I get why... they would be upset (They are living in Ukraine) but they weren't upset at other slapstick violence in the show that would kill people. :/

I once had someone on my dash bitching about people saying things like "I almost had a heart attack" to mean "I was incredibly shocked/excited." Oh noooo you can't say that it's so ~insensitive because heart attacks hurt people and things that hurt people should never be taken lightly~

Yet this same person posted, in these exact words, "I would murder someone for [a particular anime merchandise with their OTP]" soon afterwards as though completely oblivious to the irony. Pro tip: murders kinda hurt people too.

I was going to unfollow anyway for the oversensitivity of the first part, but the hypocrisy of the second bit sealed the deal

Person got super defensive about a character and pissy at a joke post about the character not belonging to a group which is a canon joke and yeah. It was awkward. Technically it wasn't an unfollow since I wasn't actually following them, but it made me stop visiting and reblogging form them real fast.

It was probably another one of those "boys are disgusting" / "white tears" / "you have to let nonwhite noncishet people vocally hate white cishets and if you tell them they shouldn't or if you disapprove you're being oppressive" bullshit reblogs.
But I've forgotten, I don't care about shits like that.

OH NO WAIT, I REMEMBERED, it was because they supported that post about that college student body president that took (rather dumb and forgettable) photos intended to mock the stereotypes of the white college boys who liked hockey or something. And then said she didn't care if they were offended. She wanted to offend people, white college boys in particular. She'd had a history of doing this. And when people said "uh maybe student body presidents shouldn't be on a campaign like this", SJWs called them racists and called her a hero.
Forgetting that assholes are assholes, you're an asshole, bye.

I can't remember the exact last reason I unfollowed someone, but the last memorable one was that I unfollowed someone because she had already been annoying me for a long time, but then she posted a huge long rant about how simplified literature should be illegal. Because the artistic integrity of a book is apparently far more valuable than teaching people how to read - the books she was talking about were intended to be donated to an elementary school, but even if they weren't the sheer elitism in that post pissed me off so badly I just unfollowed her on the spot.

You post a lot of pretty pictures, but it's not worth having your dumbass opinions and bad attitude on my dash.

a guy that was posting pics of random pretty landscape suddenly started posting like a selfie a day of him doing random uninteresting stuff and no landscapes

no harm done, the guy has the right to do what he wants with his blog and I've got a right to unfollow

my tolerance for tumblr sillyness is very very low, I just follow blogs that exclusively post pictures (mostly landscape, photography and art blogs) and when I want to look at fandom stuff I browse the tags
